It seemed like a breezy, bright and cheery Sunday afternoon to go out for a walk in the park. There are 2 parks near my home but I decided to go to the one that’s further away. It takes me approximately 20 minutes by foot to get to Montreal Green.
This is my second time at this park. On the first time, I was driven there. It seemed like a good idea to walk to the park and snap some nice pictures of my neighbourhood @ Sembawang on my way there.
I passed by an open field where a lot of people were playing football. This is a really quiet part of the neighbourhood. I like its serenity and greenery.

I took a turn and walked towards Montreal Drive. I noticed an old staircase leading up to a small hilltop. Behind all the trees are black and white bungalows.

It is a totally different world with a fence and road separating the HDB blocks and these old colonial bungalows apart.

Arrived at Montreal Green at last.
The park was officially opened by the MP of Sembawang GRC, Mr Khaw Boon Wan in June last year.
There were many people in the park. Some were working out at the exercise stations while others were jogging or playing badminton on the grass verge.
The exercise stations looked interesting and seemed to be very popular with the park users.
Kids were happily playing at the 2 playgrounds built near the exercise stations.
There are various themes being adopted in the different parts of the park. This is the “Water” theme feature.

This little ’stream’ will be filled with water during rainy days and you can step on the wooden paddles attached to the water wheel. Interesting!

Snapped a couple more pictures of the various features found in the park before heading home as the sky turned dark all of a sudden.

If you happen to be in Sembawang, do drop by this park for a stroll.

The park also won a HDB Design 2008 award for its creative use of its natural habitat during design and construction of the park.

This is my first time hearing about Montreal Green… in Singapore!
Are there many black and white colonial bungalows in the area?
yes there are many black and white colonial bungalows in Sembawang near to Sembawang Shipyard. It is a totally different world when u step into that neighbourhood. So serene … like a step back in time
The Park looks popular with the residents.
yup… the park is indeed very popular with Sembawangers and I felt that Sembawangers are very lucky to have 2 parks in the same estate that are approx 25-30 mins walk apart
it’s next to Sembawang MRT if u dun mind walking under the sun.
u have taken some nice pictures.
Hi frieswithoutsalt
well the park is not exactly next to Sembawang MRT station. It’s approx 10 mins walk away. But it does provide u with a good work out though
thanks for the compliments
Think the park will need more shade, but evenings should be lovely
dancingwithdaffodils: ya… need to wait a couple of years before the trees gets bigger and provide more shade for park users. I went there in the evening and it wasn’t that hot though. A nice cool breeze was blowing at that time and it’s really nice and cooling

Excellent photos pinkybunny! Well, I used to take my morning walk around those areas when I was staying with my 2nd son at Jelutung Harbour Park. I try to figure out where about the open football field is? Look like near Canberra Zone 4 block 493. Certain period of the year there are wonderful & cooling mist around some open field in these Sembawang areas too.
Hi Seng Chen, thank you
Glad you like this article and its pictures. The open field is near to the Sembawang Mart
